WD Security
What is WD Security?
WD Drive Utilities and WD Security, are contained within the WD Drive Utilities and the WD Security zip files and installs custom Western Digital software for WD USB and FireWire enabled external hard drives.
Overview
The most common release is 1.0.3.3, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The primary executable is named WDDriveSecurity.exe. The setup package generally installs about 33 files and is usually about 13.58 MB (14,243,346 bytes). The installed file WDUpdate.dll is the auto-update component of the program which is designed to check for software updates and notify and apply them when new versions are discovered.

How do I remove WD Security?
You can uninstall WD Security from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.
