Overview

Avery Template is a software program developed by Avery. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. It adds a Browser Helper Object (BHO) to Internet Explorer. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. When installed, it will add a context menu handler to the Windows shell in order to provide quick access to the program. The setup package generally installs about 295 files and is usually about 2.97 MB (3,109,376 bytes). The installed file softwareupdate.dll is the auto-update component of the program which is designed to check for software updates and notify and apply them when new versions are discovered. Relative to the overall usage of users who have this installed on their PCs, most are running Windows 7 (SP1) and Windows Vista (SP2). While about 97% of users of Avery Template come from the United States, it is also popular in Canada and Australia.
