Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 is an office suite of desktop applications, servers and services. The Home and Student only contain Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Office 2010 marks the debut of free online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, which work in the web browsers Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari, but not Opera. Office 2010 is more "role-based" than previous versions. There are features tailored to employees in "roles such as research and development professionals, sales people, and human resources."

Overview

The most used version is 14.0.7015.1000, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon installation and setup, it defines an auto-start registry entry which makes this program run on each Windows boot for all user logins. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The main program executable is InteractiveBootstrapCheck.exe. The software installer includes 51 files and is usually about 312.45 MB (327,624,692 bytes).
